Napoli: "The authorities did not comply with court orders ready"
In 2008 the Supreme Court of Justice's Office rebuked the federal, provincial and city to clean up the Riachuelo and ensure citizen participation in monitoring and follow-up action taken.
Eco2site: What is the Riachuelo for you?
Andrew Napoli: La Matanza - Riachuelo (CMR) is the most polluted watercourse in Argentina and thirty most polluted places in the world.
The environmental crisis of the basin is not simply to the pollution of the watercourse, but involves the degradation in the broadest sense of the term incorporating in it both components of the biophysical and the socioeconomic status. This directly impacts more than two million people who live nearby. It is of the populations with high rates of Unsatisfied Basic Needs (NBI). Which shows the social dimension that the problem arises.
Eco2site: What is your assessment of the actions taken by ACUMAR from the Supreme Court ruling today?
AN: Although they have already spent more than 17 months since the Supreme Court's Office (SCJ) to order the Government, the City of Buenos Aires and the province of Buenos Aires to carry out the sanitation of the Brook, there are no significant progress in this area.
obligations and deadlines established in the ruling of the Supreme Court in the case "Beatriz Mendoza c / National Government and other s / Damages" are largely overcome. The authorities did not at present comply with court orders ready.
